Kathy
A native of Southern California, the epicenter of health and fitness how-to, I have witnessed over the years myriad get fit quick programs that have, for good reason, enjoyed various degrees of success and staying power. As if on a yoga mat, paddling through an ocean of exercise regimens, I have developed a keen sense of what works best in achieving my fitness goals--which components were beneficial, and which ought to be thrown overboard. What I offer is the proud culmination of years of testing the waters, a unique approach that demystifies the often times dizzying fitness landscape by getting right to the core--implementing the strength and balancing pillars of Pilates along with the intensity of Sabastien Lagree's SPX Workout.
I began my foray into fitness humbly enough: with a pair of leg warmers. Like most of us, I had a seemingly endless reservoir of energy as a child; I assaulted hoops and high beams on a daily basis, loving both gymnastics and basketball. As I have gotten older, I have found myself--like most of us--trying to recapture the balance, flexibility, and endurance that I enjoyed in my youth. Of course, fitness goals vary: no two people have in common the same work schedule, familial obligations, and philosophy on well-being, but most of us can agree on the mantra my grandfather, an avid practitioner of tai chi for over ninety years, instilled in me long ago: that wellness of the mind and body needn't be a casualty as we age. Perhaps we don't know what we've got until it's gone--but that doesn't mean we can't get it back. The Sweat House and the SPX workout can help you do this.
Kathy teaches all styles of our classes and is looking forward to helping you evolve with our unique workout!
Whitney
Growing up, Whitney was always involved in competitive sports. When she got to college, she grew very involved in yoga, dance, and studying nutrition and health. The summer before her senior year, she discovered Pilates Plus. Since she is always looking for a workout that can keep her lean and toned yet is fun and challenging, Pilates was the perfect fit for her!
After almost 1 year of taking classes consistently at Pilates Plus West Hollywood and feeling and seeing amazing results, she soon became a certified instructor and has been teaching at various locations for 3 years. She enjoys teaching because of the challenges that come everyday with helping people reach their goals. She is so excited to be teaching such a fun and life changing workout in Huntington Beach!
Megan
"Sweat at least once a day. It cleanses the body, clears the mind, and energizes the soul" is one of Megan Bentley's favorite quotes. As well as teaching Pilates, Megan is an AFPA certified personal trainer, with a passion for wellness. She believes this is the key to confidence. Megan graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in International Peace Studies and continued on to a higher education in the health and fitness field soon after. Gianna
Since the time she could walk, Gianna began developing a love for sports and physical activities. At the early age of 3, she began figure skating and dancing on a regular basis. Her abilities on the ice paved the pathway for her participation in competitive ice hockey, where she later trained at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY. During her off-season, she continued to explore her love of dance and cheerleading. When things slowed down after College, Gianna was in search of a great workout that was both exciting and effective. This led her into the realm of various mind/body exercises such as Yoga and Pilates. Aside from avidly attending classes, she developed a love for running and has opted to train for marathons.
After exploring various avenues, she had yet to find an overall fitness program that combined key elements of cardio and strength training all in one. It was then that she was introduced to SPX/Systeme Dynamique™ . After noticing immediate results to both her physique and her energy levels, she jumped at the opportunity to get certified as an instructor so she could share her newfound passion with others. Gianna has also
completed the Comprehensive Teacher Training Certification for world renowned Body Arts and Science International, where she studied under the BASI founder, Rael Isacowitz.
When teaching, Gianna’s optimistic approach helps motivate her students to push themselves to that next level. She is extremely enthused at helping her students achieve personal satisfaction, both inside and out.
Christine
As a Southern California native I've always lead an active lifestyle. Growing up I played various sports such as field hockey and soccer. This later evolved into a passion for running, Yoga and overall health and wellness.
Fitness has always been a huge part of my personal life, but not necessarily my work. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University, I went onto a career in the music and fashion industry. While I enjoyed working in both industries I knew it was never my passion. The economic downturn gave me the push to leave the corporate world and make the lifestyle change I'd been wanting.
It wasn't until I found SPX Fitness that I decided to pursue a career in health and fitness. I immediately fell in love with this workout and was amazed with the results. In 2009 I received my SPX certification and in June 2010 will receive my tradition Pilates certification through Body Arts and Science. By combining
Pilates, cardio and strength training I am able bring my clients an optimal workout
that strengthens, lengthens, leans and tones! I love motivating my clients to
reach the next level with a workout I really believe in.
